The main aim of TACTA is to provide technical assistance to the strenghtening and modernization of the Customs and Tax Administrations in the Beneficiary Countries, in view of implementing and enforcing relevant legislation, organisational settings and procedures in line with EU requirements.

The beneficiary Countries are Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Kosovo (under UNSCR 1244).

The project in all the beneficiary Countries is aimed at:

  • developing the administrative capacity of the beneficiary Administrations;

  • achieving sustainability, transfer of knowledge and finally ownership of the programme by the beneficiary Countries

  • preparing the Customs and Tax Administrations for self-sufficiency following the eventual withdrawal of international technical assistance

TACTA general objectives, which are related to the beneficiary Countries achieving potential UE membership, are connected with other programmes focussed on the stabilisation and development of the Region financed by UE and other donors.
